HISTORY:
The Seven Thirty Theatre (STT) was established in the state of Illinois in 2013 with theatre workshops as a means to provide under-served African Americans with arts performance skills historically beyond their access. In 2014, operations evolved to include performances in the state of Illinois, specifically in the Chicago area. As a DBA of Urban Musical Theatre (UMT).
The Seven Thirty Theatre (STT) operates within the Chicago region with the same goal of providing arts opportunities for the Black and Brown underrepresented population.
The Seven Thirty Theatre, is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Black Theatre organization, that provides a permanent home for artist of color to perform.
Our theatrical musicals and play enable those artists to explore, experience and present a wide-ranging variety of dramatic programs that reflect the significant canon of Black artist, singers, dancer, actors, musicians and artistic to showcase their talent on stage.

The 730-theatre has a history of providing access to the dramatic arts for under-privileged, under-served, and minority populations through its ability to draw crowds from local churches, schools, civic organizations, and the community at large.
Mission
Our Mission is two-fold:
To create, train, develop, nurture and sustain a world-class professional theatre rooted in the experience of the Black Theatre.
To empower, train develop poets and playwrights, and to promote literacy through performing arts, creativity, diversity and innovation in storytelling in live performances

Driving Factor
We are further motivated by the disparities in performance opportunities and training that exist for Black individuals and organizations in performing arts. We educate, enlighten, and empower youth and adults to have access in arts programming. We provide the professional experience to showcase their talents. We offer performances and surrounding activities that broaden the exposure and appeal of Black culture by:

- providing a permanent home for artists of color that enables those artists to explore, experience and present a wide-ranging variety of dramatic programs reflecting significant Black literary, artistic, and cultural achievements.
- providing theatre and life skills training to traditionally underserved populations.
- educating and engaging audiences to foster and understanding among people of all cultural backgrounds.
